Weather & Seasons

The high season in our part of Mexico is the dry season, which runs from December through April. The weather during the high season is reliably sunny and pleasant, with clear skies, clear water and generally gentler surf. It tends to be slightly cooler during this time of the year, with days in the 80s (F), gentle afternoon onshore breezes, and temperatures cooling to the low 70s in the coolest part of the day just before dawn. The water temp during this part of the year hovers in the high 70s. During the high season, Raqueros’ owners Hans and Angie live in their apartment on the top story of the Posada, and are here to welcome guests and see to the guests’ every need.

The summer season in mainland Mexico is the wet or green season, with rain being a frequent late-afternoon event. Summer is also the “low season”, when tourism drops off and some hotels and restaurants in the area close up while the owners are away. Days are still usually sunny, but give way to cooling late-afternoon/evening showers– just in time for you to settle in on the veranda and watch the show with a cold margarita in-hand. Days tend to be warm and more humid, and the surf tends to be at its best. The landscape during summer is at its most beautiful, with the hills coming alive and showcasing their deep green tropical forest cover.
